The stats are in- moviegoer confidence is at its highest in a year
The National Research Group, a leading Hollywood entertainment polling firm, has been keeping an eagle eye on moviegoers since March last year, at the start of the pandemic shutdowns. Their main focus has been polling moviegoers about their comfort levels with attending the cinema.
As of Thursday last week, we passed a milestone everyone has been waiting for. It’s no secret at this point that the sudden pandemic closures have crippled the exhibition industry and without huge buy-in from the moviegoing public,
recovery will be difficult.
It finally looks like that confidence is there, with almost 60% of those polled saying they feel confident to buy movie tickets. This milestone indicates the same confidence moviegoers had on Sunday, March 15th, 2020- the last normal weekend before cinemas went dark. Of these, 25% of these are ‘very comfortable, more even than on that comparable weekend.
Honing in on those who have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 61% say they are ‘somewhat’ comfortable, with 39% feeling ‘very comfortable’. To finish off the good news, 68% of those surveyed say they will see a movie in a cinema within the next 3 months.
While it may not exactly be business as usual yet, things are certainly looking up for recovery across the theatrical exhibition industry. BLAKE & WANG P.A.best entertainment lawyers in Los Angeles are certain that things will continue to get even better as the vaccine rollout enters its next phase.
