Marvel Adds 2 New Avenger Titles to their Upcoming Slate
Is what the world needs right now another Avengers movie? It seems that’s what Disney have decided, at least. Announced alongside their ComicCon-focused activities, we’ve seen the two new titles added to the upcoming superhero slate. Brandon Blake, entertainment attorney at Blake & Wang P.A, breaks down the announcement.
Brandon BlakePhase 6 Wraps Up
The two new titles, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are both slated for a 2025 release date currently. They will bring to a close the wildly successful MCU films, or at least the projected sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phases four through six are currently being sold as the Multiverse Saga.
The last Avengers title, Avengers: Endgame, still keeps its title as the second-highest grossing film of all time, so it’s easy to see why they’ve added two new titles in this particular branch of the interlacing MCU films. Overall, the extended MCU universe has netted Disney over $25B in Box Office sales.
We also saw an 18-episode TV series from Daredevil, titled Daredevil: Born Again announced for 2024, and a Thunderbolts movie for the same year.
Going Quantum
Phase Five, the approaching phase, will see a third entrant in the Ant-Man and The Wasp films, currently billed as Quantumania. This will take place in the quantum realm, and we’ve been given a few interesting teasers for what that means, though few solid details. There’s also the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for fans to look forward to, and the much-anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
For fans of the MCU, and the wider superhero universe, it’s sure to be exciting news. It will also be fascinating to see if Disney can keep up their thriving bottom line with the additional titles, or if we’ll see the increasing weariness with ‘subgenre sub-heroes’ start to overwhelm the wildly successful franchise as we’ve seen with some of the spinoffs. For now, however, things are looking positive.
