Box Office Continues to Rise on the Back of New Releases and Old Favorites
The summer season may be ready to fade away, but the domestic and international box offices are still going strong. To share the good news, we have Brandon Blake, best entertainment lawyers in Los Angeles from Blake & Wang P.A.
Superman Continues to Show Success
The latest Superman release, intended to revitalize the franchise, has now passed $300M at the domestic box office- the first DC movie to attain that benchmark since The Batman in 2022. Given that it was hoped that the film, a soft reboot of the DC universe, would revitalize the franchise, they must be very happy. It’s also the ninth DC movie to meet that mark at the North American box office, and has surpassed the latest two Superman movies.
Other Strong Performances
Neon has also seen a successful opening for Together, their latest horror movie release, which was a Sundance acquisition for them. It is expected to bring in around $10M over its first weekend. Despite some controversies around its writing, it is expected to be a solid performer for them.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is also performing well in its sophomore frame, with a running offshore cume of $170.3M for $368.7M worldwide. Although we would typically see global takings outpace domestic, this particular film can thank domestic audiences for 54% of its total. The film is struggling a little in Asian markets.
The same cannot be said for F1, which has seen great popularity among South Korean cinemagoers and set some new records for Brad Pitt. Remarkably, its 6th frame has seen a 36% increase, with overseas cume of $372.3M and total revenue to date of $545.6M.
Overall, it’s looking good at the box office, and with several strong releases still to come, we will hopefully see this momentum continue throughout the end of the year and beyond.
